Mitad del Mundo

Mitad del Mundo +  3 hour hike in Pululahua Volcano

Enjoy a day trip to the Mitad del Mundo Monument and top it off with a hike in the Pululahua. This crater was declared a National Park in 1969, becoming the first to do so in Ecuador and in South America. You’ll have the chance to take pictures of the hillsides of the Pululahua, a Geobotanical Reserve where you can find 53 botanic species and 21 animal species. Your tour includes a professional guide and transport.

Duration: 8 hours

Your tour begins with early morning pickup from your hotel in Quito. You will then start driving for 50 minutes northwest of Quito, to reach the amazing Mitad del Mundo monument, known as ‘Mitad del Mundo’. Here, you will have a chance to visit the Equatorial line and straddle the two hemispheres. Take a picture on this iconic site and then take part in several experiments at the Intiñan Museum and be amazed at what you see. These experiments include watching the water go down a drain in a different direction only inches away from either side of the equator, balancing an egg on a nail, using an ancient sundial and more.

After lunch (included if option selected), you will head to the Pululahua Geo-botanical Reserve to enjoy a 3-hour hike. As you walk on the trail, enjoy the amazing landscapes in this inhabited crater and spot unique flora.

After a fun-filled day, you will head back to your hotel in Quito.
